R.N.S.A. (Réseau National de Surveillance Aérobiologique) is a private association without lucrative objet. It is in charge of the French air pollen content analysis and the allergy risk information for authorities, doctors and patients. Since 1996, R.N.S.A. is in charge of the update of the French pollen database which started in 1985.
In 2008 there was more than 70 pollen trap which were analysed to update the French database and the European database in Wien. If Michel THIBAUDON is the manager of R.N.S.A., the structure has a staff of two full time technicians based in Saint Genis l'Argentière, and partial time technicians based in different towns of France who proceed to analysis. Research and development activity started in R.N.S.A. in 2000 with the first European ASTHMA then SPRING program. Then R.N.S.A. was the starter of MONALISA, the first European project about the measure of allergen in the air. R.N.S.A. is located in a little village "Saint Genis l'Argentière" in the country at 50 km in the west of Lyon. This location is important because this village is in the scientific "health pole of Lyon".
It permits to have all the collaborations, for instance with Valbex, with the regional specific competence, and we can bring to the scientific community our competence in aerobiology. If R.N.S.A. is too small to be certified ISO 9001, it started a few years ago a quality policy to be at the size of this certification. It consists, essentially, in written procedure, formation, quality control, and the presence of Charlotte SINDT as quality insurance qualified person.
