Laboratory for Aerobiology and Palynology is one of the initiator of the aerobiological researches in Turkey. Currently, Laboratory for Aerobiology and Palynology monitors airborne pollen in six stations in Turkey continuously, and the network is planned to be expanded to four more sampling stations during the year 2010. Until now, aerobiological studies for pollen calendar was hold on by our staff using both gravimetric and volumetric pollen trap in twenty two cities of Turkey. Laboratory for Aerobiology and Palynology has coordinated/implemented several national projects together with municipality and other Universities, and provides regularly updated information for public concerning airborne pollen concentrations on the internet (AID). On the international scale, Laboratory for Aerobiology and Palynology participate to the COST action ES0603 and pollen information systems such as EPI (www.polleninfo.org) and MEDAERONET (www.rnsa.fr). As a part of its educational activities, many lectures are held in related with application of aerobiology in medicine as well as undergraduate and graduate courses “Palynology” and “Aerobiology” at Faculty of Arts and Sciences – Uludag University.
